Competition Details:
Floral Designers, this is your time. No clients, just your choices. Let your imagination soar and artistic talent shine.
As of 5/4/2024 we have expanded the theme from home and/or garden to no theme…the possibilities are endless! You may create any object made out of flowers (an attendee favorite) or arrange flowers in a way that expresses your creativity. This is a floral design competition so fresh flowers must be used, but can be in combination with other plant or plant-like material as well as dried flowers. There is no restriction on size or use of containers.See below for more information, past entries, and how to participate.
First Place: $1000 plus award
2nd Place: $500

New! Consumer Choice Award! For the 2024 competition we will be adding a consumer choice award plus $500 cash prize. There are now 4 ways to win! Attendees will have a chance to vote on Friday & Saturday and the winner will be announced on Sunday at noon.
The Floral Art Competition has been introduced to showcase the artistry of the Tri-County area floral shops and to promote the flower industry. That’s Placer, Sacramento, and El Dorado Counties. This competition is for florists, designers, and amateur flower arrangers.
Where: The Roebbelen Center during the Tri-County Home & Garden Show. 700 Event Center Drive, Roseville, Ca 95678
When: Friday, August 16, 10:00 am, Winner announced at 12:00 noon.
Set-Up: Thursday, August 15, 6:00pm - 8:00 pm and Friday, August 16, 8:00 am - 9:30 am
Duration: The Floral Arrangements will be on display for the duration of The Tri-County Home & Garden Show,
Friday 16th 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Saturday 17th 10:00 am -5:00 pm.
Sunday 18th 10:00 am -5:00 pm.
The floral displays will receive great attention from the public so be sure to send information on yourself and/or your business to receive recognition for your talent. A sign will be created with your name and verbiage that you supply which will be next to your display after the competition. You may leave business cards, flyers or be present to promote your business for the duration of the show.
All floral displays will be set on white draped tables that we will provide as well as white back drapes. The tables are 5’ in diameter. If you have a tall display, we can forgo the tables and have the display on the floor. The Roebbelen Center is air conditioned. Please keep in mind in picking out your plant/floral material that it should last the duration of the 3 day show. Staff can water or check the water level/saturation of your display per your instructions.
We have 24-hour security at the show. Although we have never had a problem, the Tri-County Home & Garden Show cannot be held responsible for theft or damage that my occur while displayed at the Roebbelen Center.
8 VIP Passes to The Tri-County Home & Garden Show will be mailed to you the first of August so you can invite family and friends to see your floral artwork on display.

The Art of Floral Design Competition, where imagination soars and artistic talent shines!
Stroll through and enjoy floral displays that represent the artistic abilities of 9 local florists or designers, competing for cash prizes of $1,750.

Judging to be based on nationally recognized design principals.
Balance - visual balance is needed so objects appear balanced from top to bottom, side to side or front to back. Types of balance: are Symmetrical Balance and Asymmetrical Balance
Contrast – the placement of unlike characteristics of a single element together to emphasize their differences. Strong contrasts can be softened by using subtle changes between the two extremes.
Proportion – the relationship between amount/s and quantity/ies of one area to another or to the whole.
Rhythm – the dominant visual movement throughout a design.
Scale – the size relationship of one object in a design to another.
