PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

Grow your business and connect with thousands of local customers at the Art of Landscape Competition, returning to The Tr-County Home & Garden Show! Showcase your skills by creating a stunning landscape display this August 14-16 at the Roebbelen Center, gain exposure to a highly engaged audience, and compete for cash prizes—all while building valuable connections that can help your business flourish.

1st: $4,000 + award || 2nd: $3,000 || 3rd: $2,000

+ FREE 20 x 30 booth on asphalt under roof line

  • The Tri-County Landscape Competition (TLC) will be 1 of the many features of our $140,000 advertising campaign which includes:

  • TV, Radio, Local Newspapers, Social media, & Google Ads

  • Each participant will have a write up and logo in the show program AND on our website.

  • Each participant will have a write up and logo in an email blast to over 115,000 homeowners.

  • Each participant will have a spotlight ad on Facebook and Instagram!

Competition Requirements

Licensed Contractors Only (must have active license at the time of signing up and at show time)

  • Drawing/Blueprint of display showing all required elements.

  • A minimum of 100 square feet of hardscape

  • Include boulders and/or rocks (no restrictions); can be natural stone, artificial stone veneer, etc.

  • At least one “man-made” structure (no restrictions)

  • A minimum of 150 square feet of plantings (trees and shrubs)


  • At least one water feature (no restrictions)

  • Location of displays 1st come, 1st serve. Layout may change pending on number of participants.

  • This is a blind competition, however, signage will be provided for each display once competition is over for the attendees.

  • Judges, schedule of set up/tear down, and more detailed information coming soon!

    Located in Loomis, California, we are an aquatic plant and pond nursery open to the general public and offering a wide selection of water flowers, freshwater aquatic plants and floating plants for ponds. We’re here to help you create a great looking aquatic garden in your own yard!

Meet Our 2025 Judges

Haley Borden

Haley Borden is a licensed landscape architect who transplanted from her hometown of Tucson, AZ to Sacramento in 2017 after receiving her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University. She is currently serving as the president-elect of the ASLA CA Sierra Chapter and works closely with the emerging professionals and student body in the region to promote the industry. She is particularly passionate about water-wise and native plantings and creating spaces that generations can enjoy.

All 3 of our judges are a part of The American Society of Landscape Architects. “At ASLA, we are dedicated to advancing the landscape architecture profession and enhancing the natural and built environments. Kathryn Kim

Kathryn Kim is a registered landscape architect with 10+ years of experience providing project management and landscape design services for parks, open spaces, multi-family housing and more. She grew up in the Sacramento area and graduated from UC Davis with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture in 2011. Kathryn is currently an executive committee member of the ASLA CA Sierra Chapter and believes Landscape Architecture is a wonderfully unique profession combining artistic creativity and technical knowledge.

Kevin Leamy

Kevin Leamy has over 30 years of diversified experience in the practice of landscape architecture after receiving his degree from Cal Poly, SLO in 1995. Mr. Leamy is the President of Fuhrman Leamy Land Group and is licensed in California, Idaho and Nevada. Kevin continues to be involved in helping to shape the urban fabric in many of Sacramento’s growth areas in residential communities, commercial campuses, recreational parks, as well as works in Arizona and Nevada.
