Meet Our 202 Judges

Haley Borden

Haley Borden is the current president of the ASLA California Sierra Chapter and a landscape architect at Roach and Campbell Landscape Architects. She holds a Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University’s Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning program. As Member-At-Large from 2019-2023 and Vice President for 2023-2024, she has worked to plan events for the Sierra Chapter's Emerging Professionals Group, including the EPG-SCASLA UC Davis Career Fair and the Annual Summer Picnic. She hopes to continue these endeavors, creating events and activities for the landscape architecture community. Haley’s passion for landscape architecture stems from the desire to create memorable spaces for people of all ages.

All 3 of our judges are members of the American Society of Landscape Architects. “At ASLA, we are dedicated to advancing the landscape architecture profession and enhancing the natural and built environments. Join us as we work together to shape the future of our communities and the world.”

Colette Curran

Colette Curran is a landscape architect at The HLA Group, a QK Company in Sacramento. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from UC Davis. She is enthusiastic about designing outdoor spaces that increase access to nature, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and positively impact people’s mental and physical health. She has experience working on diverse landscape architecture projects, including public parks, schools and playgrounds, ecological restoration projects, and residential projects. Colette is currently a Member-at-Large on the American Society of Landscape Architects California Sierra Chapter’s Executive Committee. She is Co-Chair of the Sierra Chapter's Climate Action Subcommittee and Diversity in Landscape Architecture Subcommittee.

Meredith Branstad

Meredith Branstad, ASLA, ISA, is a landscape architect, arborist, and biologist with over 24 years of experience working in the greater Sacramento area. She works at Dudek focusing on projects at the intersection of restoration and recreation. Meredith previously taught for eight years at UC Davis as a lecturer in the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design Department. Her work is mostly in the public realm ranging from urban redevelopment and streetscapes to parks, trails, and habitat restoration. Throughout her career, she has strived to create spaces that balance the interests of people and wildlife. 

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

  • The Tri-County Landscape Competition (TLC) will be 1 of the many features of our $140,000 advertising campaign which includes:

  • TV, Radio, Local Newspapers, Social media, & Google Ads

  • Each participant will have a write up and logo in the show program AND on our website.

  • Each participant will have a write up and logo in an email blast to over 115,000 homeowners.

  • Each participant will have a spotlight ad on Facebook and Instagram!

Competition Requirements

Licensed Contractors Only (must have active license at the time of signing up and at show time)

  • Drawing/Blueprint of display showing all required elements.

  • A minimum of 100 square feet of hardscape

  • Include boulders and/or rocks (no restrictions); can be natural stone, artificial stone veneer, etc.

  • At least one “man-made” structure (no restrictions)

  • A minimum of 150 square feet of plantings (trees and shrubs)


  • At least one water feature (no restrictions)

  • Location of displays 1st come, 1st serve. Layout may change pending on number of participants.

  • This is a blind competition, however, signage will be provided for each display once competition is over for the attendees.

  • Judges, schedule of set up/tear down, and more detailed information coming soon!
